Formula One weekend in Canada

Formula One heads to Canada this weekend, with the chasing pack eager to reign in reigning champion Lewis Hamilton’s lead.
Last time out, at the Monaco grand prix, Hamilton extended his advantage at the top of the drivers’ championship. He bagged 25 points after leading from start to finish, despite Max Verstappen running him close through the famous street circuit.
But will he be triumphant again in Montreal?

Hamilton in fine form

There’s no denying Hamilton has been in great form this year. In fact, the Brit has not been out of the top two places all season:

  • Australia – Hamilton 2nd
  • Bahrain – Hamilton 1st
  • China – Hamilton 1st
  • Azerbaijan – Hamilton 2nd
  • Spain – Hamilton 1st
  • Monaco – Hamilton 1st

And that makes him red hot favourite to make it three wins on the spin with BetVictor, who have him at 6/5 favourite. If you fancy him to do the treble of fastest qualifier, fastest lap and race winner, jump on BetVictor’s 7/2 odds.

The best of the rest

Of the other drivers, Hamiltons Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas is the only other competitor to have won a race this season – at Australia and Azerbaijan. BetVictor has the flying Finn at 9/4 to win the race, and 7/2 to bag the fastest lap.

A Dutch of Class

Outside of the dominating Mercedes duo, it’s Sebastian Vettel who is third in the drivers’ championship:

  1. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) – 137 points
  2. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) – 120 points
  3. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) – 82 points
  4. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – 78 points
  5. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – 57 points

The German announced his desire to keep racing for Ferrari before the Canadian race, and is third favourite to win the race with BetVictor at 7/2.

But better odds can be found for Dutchman Max Verstappen. Ferrari have been plagued with incident-packed races this year, but Verstappen was the one pushing Hamilton close at Monaco. That suggests that BetVictor’s odds of 16/1 for the Red Bull driver to win represents value. If you weren’t confident he can win, Verstappen is 5/2 for a podium finish. The Dutch racer could definitely be the one to watch this weekend.
